Soy Candles

Soy candles are made from soy wax, which is hydrogenated soybean oil. Michael Richards invented soy wax in 1992 when he was looking for a cheaper alternative to beeswax candles. When he first began making these candles, Richards realized that there was a demand for an alternative form of candle to beeswax. More and more people were looking for a more natural form of candle. The soy candles are formed with a mixture of scents and fragrances so that when they burn they give off a nice aroma.

There are a number of advantages of using soy candles. The main advantage of using and buying soy candles is that they are cheaper than the beeswax candles as mentioned before. These candles are more affordable because they are made from a renewable resource and it is easy and cheap to find and buy to make the candles. One of the great things that people like about soy candles as well as the price is that they are made from natural resources. They are environmentally friendly because they are not made from petroleum. Burning of these candles does not increase the amount of CO2 in the air.

Studies have found that the soy candles also last longer than the traditional beeswax candles - up to fifty percent longer than other candles. This is also linked to cost as well; if the candle lasts longer then you are spending less money on constantly buying new candles.

One of the biggest disadvantages of using any type of candle is that the wax spills are messy and are hard to clean up. However this is not the case with the soy candle. While there may still be wax spills, they are not near as hard to clean up as the beeswax candles. This is mainly due to the lack of paraffin wax. Wax spills can be cleaned with a small amount of soap and water.
